A recent study describes surgical ‘boot camps’ where prospective surgeons are virtually put through their paces. These Virtual Reality simulations give students the opportunity to practice on virtual patients in a wide range of clinical scenarios. The study showed that these platforms are effective e-learning tools, and could well be integrated into the medical curricula in the near future.
