The first ever International Conference for Virtual Patients (ICVP) was held in Krakow, Poland on June 5-6th, 2009. Experts in the field of e-learning and virtual patients gathered to present important findings, share ideas and talk about the future of VPs.
Amongst the speakers, Rachel Ellaway from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in Canada spoke about the need for diversity and flexibility in virtual patients, and gives us food for thought for current and future work in this area, and Dr Martin Fischer from University Witten-Herdecke, Germany highlights the need for “theory and data showing that what we are doing is really beneficial and improves education.”
